Iván Ayala Cádiz was an interim mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico from 1987 to 1988, after the resignation of Mayor José Dapena Thompson.

Assignment

Ivan Ayala Cadiz was former dean at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Law. He finished off Dapena Thompson's last few weeks mayoral term[1] (December 1988 to January 1989) via appointment by his political party, the PNP.[2]

In 1988, Dapena Thompson had been charged as co-author of embezzlement of federal funds from HUD;[3] as a result he had resigned as mayor.[4]
